What do you think of local homestead taxpayers who have hunting camps here paying garbage special assessments on their camps?
I believe this is wrong. This is double taxation at it's finest on a local level. It shouldn't just stop there, A Camp, A Beach house or any other property in which the tax payer lives at part-time should not be taxed as their second home. This has been in effect since 1990. It was wrong then and is wrong now. Not only should it stop, taxes levied and paid should be refunded and refunds made retro-active. As your tax collector, I will help see that this is done.
Are special assessments necessary?
I believe these can be strategic ideas for funding new services, but to fund an existing service? I believe this is wrong. Especially if taxpayers approve a measure to cut property taxes and politicians use these tactics to make-up the difference other than working with-in the means that our constituents tells us what to do. I will work hard and be very conservative of every tax dollar spent. I will help and go the extra mile and look for alternative ideas other than looking at the easy way out, also known as thinking outside the box.
